We are changing the address of the showRSS blog. If you want to keep updated about last showRSS news, please have a look at the new blog (and subscribe if you want!). This post won’t contain newer announcements related with showRSS (only related to other karmorra’s projects).
Show suggestions

You may have noticed that since about a month ago, we provide an option to generate show suggestions. First of all, thanks to everyone who used it 
.
Now we are thinking about the future of this tool. There’s a big technical problem: we do not have enough servers and capacity to run it in real-time, so suggestions have to be generated when the server the servers are not charged.
Should we remove it?
Generating suggestions for every user (in a loop) is not an option, because most users won’t need those suggestions and there’s a big problem with technical ressource. Also, current solution (suggestions being sent to an email) is just temporary and we don’t want to store emails.
Should we finally remove it? Any other suggestions?
(Anyway, maybe someday we’ll release an independent tool for getting show suggestions… why not?)

Update 2: EZTV is changing from datacenter because of the last news about The Pirate Bay. Meanwhile, we are starting “slowly” to get new torrents from their Twitter acount. If you have any “strange” problems, please tell us! Note: torrents may be marked as if they were released today (1-july-09), we can do nothing with that… we’re sorry.
Update: We have changed our DNS provider, so DNS issues should be solved for now. Still waiting EZTV to recover and we’ll be fully operational. Sorry for the problems.
We are currently having issues with our DNS provider, some people is unable to access ShowRSS and other services like boxxy.
We are on it, and we are really sorry for this problem. We’re open to any suggestions for a new DNS provider, as our actual provider (CDmon) sucks.
Also: EZTV is having hardware problems. We hope they fix it soon, if not, we’ll make some changes to continue getting updates from alternative sources (BTchat, Twitter…). So for now, some people is unable to access the service and the show delivery is temporally frozen. But we are still active, don’t forget it! (but also very busy in the real life™)
showRSS: configuración por serie

Ya habréis notado que podéis elegir qué ver en las configuraciones de los feeds usando el botón junto a la papelera en la lista de series. Por ahora se puede:
- Aplicar la configuración a todas las series
- Aplicar algunas opciones globales y otras por serie en concreto.
- Aplicar sólo serie por serie
¿Cómo? No es extremadamente sencillo, por ello vamos a explicarlo:
Primero tienes que crear un feed en la página “feed”. Ahí seleccionas lo que quieres ver; para ello está el menú de series. Imaginemos que de la lista seleccionamos:
- Mythbusters: standard, con propers y repacks
- NCIS: sin tocar (esto es, por defecto: sólo standard, no propers/repacks)
- House: sólo HD 720p, no propers ni repacks
Ahora vamos a ver las diferentes opciones de la página “feed”. Recuerda que puedes tener tantas como quieras, pues el feed se genera al vuelo según tu configuración elegida cada vez.
En nuestra página de feeds:
- “per-show settings for quality” y “no repacks/propers”: el feed sólo contendrá torrents normales de Mythbusters y NCIS, y sólo 720p para House. Como elegimos explicitamente no incluir propers/repacks en el feed, pese a que ‘Mythbusters’ debería incluir los repacks, no toma en cuenta esa configuración.
- “per-show settings for quality” y “per-show settings for propers/repack”: ahora el feed será filtrado con todas las configuraciones por serie. Solo tendrá torrents standard para Mythbusters (¡pero con propers!), torrents standard para NCIS pero sin propers/repacks, y 720p para House (también sin repacks/propers).
- “both torrent types” y “per-show settings for proper/repacks”: de esta manera tendrás un feed con todos los tipos de torrent (720p y standard, ¡puede haber duplicados!) para tus series, pero también con todos los propers/repacks (no incluidos por defecto).
Sólo tienes que seleccionar lo que quieres en la lista de feeds (y aceptar), y luego, si quieres, editar la configuración de cada serie. Esto se hace haciendo click en el icono al lado de la papelera, junto al nombre de la serie.
No olvides que cada vez que creas un feed con una combinación, obtienes una nueva dirección. Cada URL es diferente por cada combinación, tendrás que suscribirte de nuevo si quieres cambiar las opciones. Además, cambiar algunas preferencias en la página ‘feeds’ no afecta los feeds ya creados (y funcionando). Pero cambiar la configuración individual por serie afecta a los feeds que usen opciones por defecto por serie, “per-show settings”.
Un pequeño apunte más: si eres uno de los primeros usuarios y acabas de enterarte de estas características, tu antiguo feed (que continúa funcionando), es ahora configurable. Si no, debería seguir como al principio.
Hay tantas combinaciones como quieras, estos son sólo ejemplos. ¿Qué opinas?
showRSS: per-show settings

You may have already noticed that now it’s possible to select what do you want to see in your personal feed. For now, you can:
- Apply settings to all shows
- Apply some settings for all shows and other settings in a per-show basis
- Select only in a per-show basis
How? It’s not very clear, so we’ll explain better… now! Let’s go.
You have to create a feed address from the ‘feeds’ page. You select what you want in the drop-down. For example. Let’s have a list for shows… like that:
- Mythbusters: only standard, with propers and repacks
- NCIS: untouched (that means, by default: only standard, no propers/repacks)
- House: only HD 720p, no propers and repacks
Now, let’s have some combinations for your feed at the “feeds” page. Remember that you can have many feed combinations as you want, because this filters the feed on-the-fly (doesn’t takes in account some settings if you want so, but doesn’t “overwrites” them).
In our feeds webpage:
- “per-show settings for quality” and “no repacks/propers”: the feed will only contain standard torrents for Mythbusters and NCIS, and only 720p for House. As I explicitely selected to not include propers/repacks in the feed, even if I have selected Mythbusters to include propers, it won’t take this setting in account.
- “per-show settings for quality” and “per-show settings for propers/repack”: now, my feed will be filtered with all the per-show settings. I will get only standard for Mythbusters (but with propers!), standard torrents for NCIS but without propers/repacks, and 720p for House (also without repacks/propers).
- “both types of torrents” and “per-show settings for proper/repacks”: that way, you’ll have a feed containing all types of torrents (720p and standard, may have duplicates!) for your shows, but also with all propers/repacks (not included by default).
You just have to select what you want in the feed’s page drop-down (and submit the form, that’s obvious), and if you want, edit per-show settings. That is done clicking the button near the trash, near the name of the show in the list of your shows.
Also, don’t forget that when you “create” a feed with the different combinations, it just ‘delivers’ you an address. Every address is different for each combination, so you’ll have to subscribe again if you want to have a different filtering. Also, changing some settings at the ‘feeds’ page doesn’t concerns feeds already created (and working). But keep in mind that changing per-show settings in your show list does affect the feeds you already have that are using “per-show settings”.
A little note more: if you are an ‘early-adopter’ (one of the first users) and you just noticed this feature, your standard/old feed (that still works), is now like “use per-show settings” for both propers/repacks and 720p.
There are as many combinatons as you want, those are only a few examples. What do you think?

We are still working. Next time, there will be per-show filtering options (but optional, will just work on your standard feed and not in custom feeds). For example:
- House: only 720p
- Mythbusters: only standard
- Fringe: both standard and 720p
And that will be optional, of course! What do you think?

¡Estamos desbordados! Gracia sa todos por las toneladas de emails recibidos. Y a continuación, algunas de las características demandadas que ya hemos implementado:
- Feeds, feeds, feeds! Ahora puedes obtener la URL personalizada desde tus opciones. ¿Sólo quieres capítulos en HD? ¿O repacks? ¿O ambos? No importa, elige lo que quieras (por ejemplo, puedes suscribirte desde el navegador a capítulos en 720p con propers pero únicamente suscribirte en tu cliente de bitorrent a los capítulos standar sin repacks o propers).
- Feeds otra vez: Cada serie tiene ahora su propio feed RSS. Este feed incluye torrents 720p, torrents standard y repacks/propers, pero debería ser suficientepara los que sólo quieren seguir una o dos series y filtrarlas desde el cliente.
- Nueva página principal: ¡Una nueva e increíble página principal para showRSS! (+ un pequeño FAQ para principiantes). Esta guiará a los nnuevos usuarios. Para los usuarios registrados y que ya han agregado series a su feed, ahora hay una lista con los últimos capítulos.
Sobre las peticiones de series: ¡Tened paciencia! Y por favor, dejad de pedir series terminadas o canceladas. No, My Name is Earl o Stargate NO van a volver (y Star Trek Nueva Generación menos aún ¬¬).
Otras tantas nuevas características están al caer; mientras cuéntanos en los comentarios que te gustaría incluir o cambiar.
Features, features, features!

We are overwhelmed! Thanks everyone for your emails! But now, there are some (little) features that people have requested… and some other improvements:
- Feeds, feeds, feeds! Now you can get your custom URL with your own settings. Do you want only 720p, propers and repacks? Or not? Just choose! And you can have as many combinations as you want (for example, subscribe with your browser for 720p with propers but only subscribe with your torrent client to standard torrents without repacks or propers).
- Feeds again: Each show we have indexed has now an unique feed address. That feed includes 720p, standard torrents and repacks, but should be enough for everyone wishing to follow only one or two shows and filtering the feeds from the torrent client.
- Nice new homepage: An awesome new homepage for the site! (+ little FAQ for new starters). Now, it guides new users the first time they login. For registered users that have already selected their favorite TV shows, now there’s a list of the latest torrent files (including propers and 720p).
About requested TV shows: wait! And don’t ask for cancelled or ended TV shows.
